2024 NeuroNex Annual PI Meeting

About NEURONEX6

C3NS: Communication, Coordination, and Control in Neuromechanical Systems

“Brains are Embodied”

On October 9-10, 2024, invited speakers will lecture on the implications of brain embodiment for neuroscience research. Moderators will pose questions to the attendees that they will then address in round table discussions. The results of each of those round table discussions will then be reported to the group as a whole and will serve as the basis for a report to the NSF that may be helpful for directing future research in this broad area of neuroscience. The report will summarize the key ideas and questions generated by the meeting. The longer-term goal is to promote forward thinking discussions among scientists and engineers and create new networking opportunities that may lead to collaborations between researchers in various NeuroNex Networks.

Speakers and moderators will be recruited to reflect the interests of much of the NeuroNex community and discuss a number of integrative aspects of animal systems including neuromechanics, sensory processing, cognition / memory and synaptic plasticity.

Meeting Goals

The meeting will result in the participants having a better understanding and appreciation of the overall context defined by the brain/body/environment system. The discussions among scientists and engineers between and among NeuroNex Networks may lead to new valuable collaborations. Trainees at the meeting will have a great opportunity for networking among themselves and with established researchers in the field.
